This month on the Spicy Soul Mama podcast is a turning point, as I begin to forge my way in a slightly new direction. The direction in speaking with peers who have been through deep challenges in parenting, mental health and spirituality topics of which are more in alignment with the topics I write about.
I invited a peer, Karen, a writer and mother who also explores difficult topics as she navigates being the mother of three sons, two of whom live with autism. We talked about everything from what it is like to live in a suburb of Texas as one of the only Black families when her heart is in California, how her involvement in the boys schooling early on really helped with the diagnoses, and how she learned through therapy that self-care is of utmost importance to be the best she can be. Karen has gleaned wisdom and shares it with me as we discuss these topics and more.
Thank you for listening.
